I already knew the products, the engineering team, and many of our customers, which meant I could hit the ground running. The business has evolved a lot since I left, particularly with the digitisation of processes and management systems, which makes us even more efficient and responsive. “It’s been fantastic to reconnect with both colleagues and clients, and I’m looking forward to using my experience to help us turn around quotes faster and strengthen those relationships even further. Being back at Cambs feels like coming home – but with exciting new opportunities ahead.” The new agreement includes replacing a 20-year-old compressor with a modern, energy-efficient unit, further strengthening the site’s compressed air capabilities. Critical Role of Compressed Air Western Horticulture’s operations involves processing, handling and packaging growing media, fertilisers and horticultural supplies. Compressed air powers key machinery, drives automation systems and supports pneumatic tools throughout the facility. With production demands high, reliability is non-negotiable – any interruption in compressed air supply could halt operations, delay shipments and impact customer commitments. Why Cambs Won The site operates several compressors, and the contract renewal process invited competitive bids from other providers. Cambs Compressors retained the business by demonstrating excellence across five core criteria; Servicing Costs, Energy Efficiency, System Redundancy, Warranties and Responsiveness. The Upgrade The new compressor not only improves reliability but also delivers measurable energy savings. Integrated with the existing system, it allows balanced load distribution, maximising efficiency while ensuring backup capacity remains available at all times. This combination supports Western Horticulture’s commitment to sustainable operations and consistent productivity. Outcome By blending competitive servicing with a strategic equipment upgrade, Cambs Compressors has reinforced its position as a trusted partner to Western Horticulture. The result is a resilient, energy-efficient compressed air system designed for performance, reliability and cost control – keeping production running smoothly today and into the future. Cambs Compressors is proud to announce the successful retention of its service contract with Western Horticulture in Alconbury, Huntingdon – a leading supplier of horticultural products to commercial growers and nurseries nationwide.
